BLCPS formed to ensure artistes’ rights

Lyricists, composers and performers of Bangladesh have launched a platform named Bangladesh Lyricists, Composer and Performers Society (BLCPS) to ensure the copyright and due royalties of their creations. In a press conference held on August 25, 2014 at National Press Club, members of BLCPS informed about the platform, its intention and work schedules.

Seasoned singer Sabina Yasmin, president of BLCPS, Sujit Mostafa, chief executive of BLCPS, Hamim Ahmed, general executive of BLCPS, Ayub Bachchu, Fuad Naser Babu, Maqsoodul Haque, Shuvro Dev and other eminent musicians were present at the press conference.

BLCPS will work as a copyright society which is registered with the Copyright Office under the Cultural Affairs Ministry. It will work according to the format and convention of CISAC (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers). BIPF aided the formation of the society in the area of legal aspects.
